Microsoft Confirmed Redfall Had Generated Minimal Sales

In the new FTC hearing, the American tech giant spoke about Redfall sales and the game's Xbox exclusivity.

During the latest round of legal proceedings by FTC in the Microsoft-Activision merger, Microsoft revealed some information regarding the sales of Redfall, saying the Arkane shooting title only generated minimal sales. At the same time, Microsoft didn’t provide any exact numbers, but they are allegedly very low.

Axios journalist Stephen Totilo reported all of this info from FTC’s most recent hearing for the acquisition of Activision by Microsoft. He also wrote that the tech giant confirmed that both Redfall and Starfield will remain exclusive to the PC and Xbox ecosystem.

Microsoft owns Arkan, developer of Redfall, Tango Gameworks, and Bethesda Game Studios, the creator of Starfield. Many of the new games from these developers have been Xbox console exclusives, while they previously launched on PlayStation too. Meanwhile, as per Totilo, Microsoft said that its basis for making Starfield an exclusive is to “mitigate the damage done to its player-focused brand”.

Furthermore, Microsoft gave some details about the platforms future ZeniMax titles will launch on. Since Microsoft bought ZeniMax in September 2020, its games have become exclusive to Xbox consoles. However, the American corporation stated that while Redfall/Starfield would only be available on Xbox and PC in the future, other ZeniMax games will be released on platforms like PlayStation and Nintendo.
