Repair Broken Internet Cables That Are Bleeding as You Explore the Bottom of Oceans in This Horror Game

Let's go diving.

Diving into the tropical seas to have a close touch with marine creatures is a satisfying and relaxing experience, but a deeper zone in the ocean has another totally opposite view, where the atmosphere would be perfect for a horror adventure game.

Cold Abyss's concept and gameplay are not complicated: it takes you to the deep ocean bottom, where you check and repair broken internet cables that are bleeding. Although the developer Studio [notes.] describes the game as a "relaxing" exploration game, it's truly not easy to have my trust on this point.

In a dark environment, where everything around you is almost impossible to see clearly, walk around to find the target while the countdown on your oxygen tank keeps ticking. "There are no enemies or other forms of danger down there. Just you," the game description reads. Yet, some encounters in the dark might not be avoided.

Cold Abyss was released a year ago and is still available for free download on Itch.io. The Director’s Cut version for Steam adds more levels, new features, an expanded story, and an overhauled movement system and visuals.

Make sure you don't have Thalasophobia before jumping on the crate, which will lead you down to the abyss. Enjoy your time alone on a creepy but somewhat soothing ocean-floor exploration.

Cold Abyss: Directors Cut will be coming soon, and you can join its playtest now by clicking the "Request Access" button on Steam. If you want a game that scratches some unusual itches in your mind, don't hesitate to add it to your Steam wishlist.
