Analytics platform data.ai revealed that people spent more time on mobile this year than ever before. Consumers accumulated more than 2.5 trillion hours on Android phones in the first half of 2023, which is 4% more than in H2 2022 and 16% more than last year in the same period, according to the report. The company believes people will spend more than 5 trillion hours on Android phones in 2023.
India is leading the statistics with 26% growth from H1 2021, followed by China (+13% from H1 2021), Indonesia (+16%), Mexico (+14%), and Thailand (+18%). Time spent on mobile increased by 1% in the US over the past two years.
Earlier, data.ai noted a positive consumer spending growth with a record $67.5 billion, which is 5.3% higher year-over-year. Moreover, the company reported 76.8 billion app downloads globally in H1 2023 across iOS and Google Play, it's a 3.2% increase.
Last year, data.ai reported consumers spent $22 billion on mobile games in the first quarter of 2022. Sensor Tower said this was a 7.1% decline compared to the same period the previous year.
