Rumor: Sledgehammer Games' Call of Duty 2027 Will Be New Sub-Franchise
It's either set in the late 1990s/early 2000s or not.

Call of Duty keeps its annual lineup on a conveyor, and new rumors have already spread all over the internet about what CoD 2027 will bring us. However, reports do not quite align.
Well-known leaker TheGhostOfHope claimed that Call of Duty 2027 will be developed by Sledgehammer Games and will be a new sub-franchise set in the late 1990s to early 2000s.
According to them, it will feature new characters and omnimovement with no Tactical Sprint planned. Moreover, the studio is reportedly discussing the return of the Pick Ten system, allowing you to customize your loadout with elements, and the Get High mode to test your parkour skills. No zombies for now, though.
Another source, CharlieIntel, claims that the game will be set in the modern era instead, although he confirms that it will be a new sub-franchise by Sledgehammer.
Of course, these are all just rumors, and we will not hear much about CoD 2027 any time soon, as there's still next year's installment in the queue.
I'd rather Activision polish Black Ops 7 instead of releasing new games every year – it really needs help to improve all those horrible reviews.
