Rumors Proven True: The Elden Ring Movie is in Production
Bandai Namco has confirmed that A24 is indeed working on the film, with Alex Garland at the helm.
Proving doubters and arrogant access media journalists to be incorrect, Bandai Namco has officially confirmed that the Elden Ring movie is indeed in production at A24, with Ex Machina and Civil War's Alex Garland serving as its writer and director.

For a bit of extra context, the news about the Elden Ring movie was first broken by Nexus Point News, which published an exclusive report in early May about the film's existence. That report, however, was quickly deleted by the outlet, prompting several smug journalists and commentators to accuse NPN of making it all up.
Among them, for example, was The Verge's Jay Peters, who wrote a bafflingly condescending remark: "None of us at The Verge had ever heard of Nexus Point News, let alone recognized it as a place that reliably breaks entertainment news, so something didn’t seem right." That's despite Nexus breaking the news about Luca Guadagnino working on a Sgt. Rock movie in September 2024, months before "reputable news sources" reported it.
Well, what do you know – turns out smaller outlets can reliably break entertainment news. According to Bandai Namco's latest statement, a live-action film adaptation of FromSoftware's Elden Ring is indeed in the works at A24, with Alex Garland at the helm, just as Nexus Point News had reported.
Additionally, the publisher shared more details about the team behind the movie, revealing that the film will be produced by Peter Rice, along with Andrew Macdonald and Allon Reich from DNA, Vince Gerardis, and George R. R. Martin himself, the author of A Song of Ice and Fire and co-writer of the original Elden Ring game.
