The Last of Us: Remastered for PS4 also saw a significant boost in sales.
The successful launch of The Last of Us HBO series caused The Last of Us Part I to see a significant boost in sales, at least in the UK.
According to GfK data (via GamesIndustry.biz), Naughty Dog's remake of the post-apocalyptic action-adventure game returned to the UK retail charts at No.20 with a 238% increase in sales from the previous week. Additionally, The Last of Us: Remastered for PS4 also made a comeback on the charts, sitting at the No.32 spot with a 322% increase in sales.
Other games that saw significant sales increases during the week between January 15 and January 21 include Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, which rose 104% to reach No.12, thanks to a sale price of £11 at retailers such as Argos and Amazon.
Battlefield 2042 also re-entered the charts at No.25 with a 177% increase in sales, also due to a sale price of £10 from Argos and Amazon. Lastly, The Callisto Protocol is back in the charts at No.16 with an 83% rise in sales, following a price drop to £30 at some retailers.
Topping the charts is Nintendo's Fire Emblem Engage which was released last week. The game debuted at the No.1 position surpassing the previous leader, FIFA 23. Despite having 31% lower sales than its predecessor, Fire Emblem Engage is still the second biggest launch for the series in the UK, ahead of the iconic 3DS hit Fire Emblem Awakening.
FIFA 23 saw a 21% drop in sales compared to the previous week and fell to second place, while God of War Ragnarok dropped one spot to No.3 with a 26% decrease in sales. Mario Kart 8: Deluxe held its position at No.4 with a 3% increase in sales and rounding out the top five was Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, which saw a 29% decline in sales.
