Shahzod Boyhonov is doing some Unreal Engine 5 level work.
Shahzod Boyhonov, best known as the creator of the Cell Fluids add-on, recently showcased an impressive Compositor setup that feels like real magic. He mentioned that this will eventually be developed into an add-on and released to the public. Currently, it works best with still images, as there are some consistency challenges with animations that he's actively working to improve.
Interestingly, the new Subnautica game uses similar technology. For those who missed it, Tore Lervik's MeshBlend, used in Subnautica 2 to build the game's world, has been generating a lot of buzz lately and can be purchased here.
On that note, Blender is about to go full After Effects, with major Compositor improvements coming in version 5.0, designed to simplify the workflow and let users handle all post-processing entirely within the software. Will screen-space blending go mainstream in the future?
Stay tuned for updates on Shahzod's add-on, and in the meantime, check out his other Blender projects, like this traffic animation, a fluid-like grass animation, a fall leaves simulation, and more:
