Sergey Kovalenko brings his eerie concepts to life with the help of VR, shaping scenes for his upcoming horror game M.I.N.S.K., set in a dark, post-apocalyptic world.
In one of his latest posts, he demonstrated his VR sculpting tests in environment creation, using Meta Quest 3 and Adobe Medium to create massive roots that pierce an abandoned bus. He positively noted the speed of sculpting in this way and the comfort of use: "Your hand naturally feels 3D depth, so there's no need to constantly rotate the object."
Kovalenko sculpted the environment in VR, then cleaned it in Blender, and moved it to Unreal Engine 5. He says that Nanite allows for any level of detail, but "I’m already taking steps to simplify geometry without losing the visual feel."
"In a world on the brink of extinction, survivors hide from the toxic fog. Control an exploration robot as it infiltrates abandoned locations in search of vital resources."
You will be able to jump into this atmosphere when M.I.N.S.K. comes out. There, you control an android trying to get through the ruins of the old world and "uncover the truth behind the devastation."
