See How You Can Make Moving Lighter Flame Effect in Houdini

Senior FX TD Nabil Jabour demonstrated his weekly doodling in the form of a neat flame effect atop a Zippo lighter made with Houdini. The fire moves realistically with the invisible virtual hand, leaning where it's supposed to.

Jabour has kindly provided the nodes he used so you can create the same simulation yourself. A combination of a curve, noise, volume, and color makes the VFX look as realistic as it does. There is "no comp, just pure volume with a bit of viewport bloom."
