Sony Is Reportedly Talking about Acquiring FromSoftware's Owner

Sony is said to be in talks to acquire Kadokawa, a powerhouse that owns the Elden Ring and Dark Souls creator FromSoftware as well as Spike Chunsoft, known for the first five Dragon Quest games, and many other companies.

According to Reuters' sources, if the ongoing discussions between Sony and Kadokawa are successful, a deal could be signed in the coming weeks.

Sony already has a 2% stake in Kadokawa, and in 2022, Tencent and Sony collectively acquired 30.34% of FromSoftware. Earlier this year, Kadokawa bought Acquire, the developer of Octopath Traveler.

In response to the Sony acquisition news Kadokawa's shares jumped 23%.
