PlayStation Network has caused a lot of frustration among PC players, who are forced to create and link their PSN accounts in order to enjoy Sony's games on their computers. The company's president, COO, and CFO Hiroki Totoki understands that it can "invite pushback" but doesn't plan to stop "offering" the service.
During Sony's latest financial call, he discussed Sony's discoveries using an interpreter.
"We have learned a lot," he said (via GamesRadar+). "The way to face the issues regarding PC, for instance. The PlayStation accounts that we have offered – well actually, by offering them, for instance, sometimes that tends to invite pushback. But for the live service games, in order to maintain order of the gaming so that anybody can enjoy the games safely, we need to create an environment conducive to that and, of course, enjoying the game freely."
The issue is that linking a PSN account is a requirement not only for live service games: the single-player Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered also asks for the account – an issue some players mentioned in their negative reviews.
Now, the game has a Mixed rating, but this is not the biggest "pushback" concerning the PSN "offering." Helldivers 2 is a great example of how a very successful game can lose favor: the game was review-bombed so much that Sony dropped its PSN account linking requirement.
But it doesn't seem that other Sony games on PC will be as lucky while the company thinks it is one for safety, so get your account and heart ready.
