"We don’t get a lot of Launch Days in our careers so today is special for a ton of reasons."
Sony’s first-person shooter, Concord, is finally going to be live in a few hours. Jon Weisnewski, the Lead Character Designer from the Sony-owned Firewalk Studios, has taken to Twitter to share the excitement for this special day:
Some were surprised to hear that the development took eight years. The game was only unveiled last year, and a closed beta test was conducted this July, which was met with mixed reception. Additionally, the game was only 750+ in the Most Wishlisted rank on Steam, which was not a good sign for a promising launch.

The developer has adopted a creative approach for this online shooter, which costs $40 to purchase instead of the typical free-to-play style. Some early birds who pre-ordered the game have been playing for some days, and Steam’s pre-release review currently shows “very positive.” Some praised it for its better balance than games such as Destiny Crucible. They also said it was fun to play, and some have awarded it as one of the most fun multiplayer shooters they have played in a while.
However, those negative voices have mentioned several aspects, such as missing “some major elements,” being a bit “redundant,” or simply not worth the price. A player named “Option,” who enjoyed the beta test but was disappointed at the final version, has written:
"Terrible map design, abysmal performance, cluttered and redundant UX, and a pre-monetization strategy that has no reason to be this bad. (I'm speaking about the exclusive paid 'skins' which are nothing more than a basic palette swap.)"

The game will be available on PlayStation 5 and PC upon release. If you are interested in learning more, feel free to check it out on Steam.
