Sony Says 22M PS5 Sales is Manageable, Despite Semiconductor Shortage

12.5 million more units need to be sold to achieve this number.

Sony announced that they have enough components to hit their goal of manufacturing and selling over 22 million PS5 units by the end of their current fiscal year, despite an ongoing global semiconductor shortage.

“For PS5 [and] the number of units to be sold this year, the target has been set, and we have secured the number of chips that is necessary to achieve that – and regarding the supply of semiconductors, we are not concerned,” said Sony's CFO Hiroki Totoki during an earnings webcast.

Earlier, Sony Interactive Entertainment announced that the PlayStation 5 has sold 10 million units, worldwide, since its launch in November, reaching that number faster than any other console made by SIE.
