The teardown videos let you take a peek at the internal components of the headset and Sense controller.
Sony has released two teardown videos where its engineers disassemble PlayStation VR2 and the Sense controller. They share a closer look at the internal structure and design philosophy behind the upcoming VR headset and controllers.
PS VR2 is symmetrical inside as well as outside, with an enhanced cooling system provided for comfortable gameplay and an ergonomic headband designed to maximize comfort. It is developed to be light and compact while maintaining its high-functioning structure.
Another cool feature is an IR LED around the lenses and an IR camera that captures the light from the LED. They work side by side to track your eyes.
As for the Sense controller, Takeshi Igarashi from the Peripheral Design team discusses its tracking technology, finger-touch detection that helps players make natural hand gestures during gameplay, and adaptive triggers based on the DualSense wireless controller.
The headset and the Sense controllers can "communicate" thanks to the IR LEDs hidden under the controller cover. The lights detect the controller’s position and orientation.
PlayStation VR2 is set to launch on February 22, with over 30 games available to enjoy from the first day.
