Sparseal Launches 3D Texturing App Wafer For PC
Try it for stylized and hand-painted assets.
Back in February, Sparseal, the creator of CozyBlanket and Uniform, released Wafer, a 3D texturing software designed for NPR assets. Previously, Sparseal's products were only available on iPad, but this release marks a shift with the introduction of a Windows version of Wafer.
At the moment, there is no official documentation outlining the differences between the PC and iPad versions. However, Wafer is designed around familiar tools and the layout of illustration software applied directly to 3D, so it's probably pretty similar across both platforms. At launch, the Wafer team mentioned it's built on a new cross-platform foundation, which could suggest we might see other Sparseal apps eventually coming to PC as well.
One of Wafer for iPad's key selling points was its extreme optimization, allowing it to run smoothly even on low-spec or older devices. Inside the app, you also get access to an advanced asset browser with stencils, triplanar mapping textures, brush alphas, HDRIs, decals, and stamps, all neatly organized in one place.
