Cloth simulation, side-by-side 3D/2D texture painting, Surface Transfer tool, and more.
Since the launch of Uniform, a modeling and texturing app by CozyBlanket creators Sparseal that allows artists to sculpt, create low-poly models, textures, and even finalize renders right on the iPad, the developers have been continuously enhancing the software and regularly introducing new features, which they tease on their social media.
If you missed the news, the latest major Uniform 1.1 update just went live, adding new Curve object types, a toolset for stylized hair, transparency painting for textures and geometry, quality-of-life improvements, and more:
Immediately after the developers launched the update, teasers for upcoming features surfaced on their X/Twitter page. According to these previews, the next Uniform release will introduce a Surface Transfer tool, as shown at the top of the page. This tool can bake high-poly geometry to editable textures and allows the use of sculpting tools to refine the normal map with the export result compatible with DCC or game engines.
Other new features include a curvature influence brush module that works both for high-poly meshes and sculpted normal maps, and side-by-side 3D/2D texture painting in polymesh objects, allowing layers, including layer masks, fill layers, and adjustment layers. Additionally, it seems like Uniform 1.2 will get a new cloth simulation.
