Star Wars Jedi's Camera System Dev Is Working On Custom UE5 Solution

Tim Welch shared the first demo showcasing the transition between various camera styles.

With nearly 20 years of experience in AAA game production, Technical Director Tim Welch has contributed to the release of major titles such as Borderlands 2, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and Back 4 Blood. As the developer himself explains, he went from being known as the "Camera Man" in his first programming job at High Moon Studios in the mid-2000s to designing the camera system for Respawn's Star Wars Jedi games, and he's had the opportunity to create numerous camera systems tailored to the complex needs of third-person cinematic action games.

For his new personal project, he aims to leverage his experience and lessons learned to create a new camera plug-in designed for seamless integration into any Unreal Engine 5 game. It's said to feature intuitive tools and refined mechanics, with the first demo showcasing smooth blending between various camera styles, each offering different functionality and framing.

Tim Welch plans to post regular updates on the development of this system, so follow him on LinkedIn to keep up with all the latest progress.
