Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Seems to Launch by March 2023

EA said it will release a "major" title before April 2023 and, as speculation is pointing out, it might be Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.

Electronic Arts is planning to release a game that it refers to as a "major IP" before March 31, 2023. The publisher confirmed this during a financial briefing with investors on Tuesday. While the nature of this project is kept secret, some people suggest that it might be Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, a sequel to 2019's Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

As noted by PCGamer, there may be a few reasons why this EA's major game could be the Respawn title. According to EA’s website, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is slated for release in 2023, and in addition, several industry insiders, including Giant Bomb's Jeff Grubb, claim that the game is set to release in March 2023, as does the recent PlayStation database leak suggest.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor does seem to be the best bet out of all the games that are currently in development at EA's internal or partner studios for what this secret game may be.

Apart from the Fallen Order's sequel, the games that we know about include Dragon Age: Dreadwolf which has only completed the Alpha development stage, the next Mass Effect game which left the pre-production stage not so long ago, three Marvel games (including an Iron Man title developed by EA Motive) which are yet early in development, and two unannounced Star War games that are in development at Respawn.

Speaking to investors, EA's CEO Andrew Wilson explained why the publisher wasn't announcing the nature of its "major IP" just yet, bringing the launch of Apex Legends as an example.

"The nature of marketing in our industry has meaningfully changed in the past five or six years," he said. "You might remember that when we launched Apex Legends, we didn't tell anybody about it until about 48 hours before the community got to play it."

This strategy worked pretty well with Apex Legends, so now, the company is thinking more about the "most appropriate time" when to reveal anything about their next "major" title. This also comes in line with Jeff Grubb's previous statement that EA doesn't want to put out the hype around Star Wars Jedi: Survivor until near the game's release.

While almost everything points out that EA's "major IP" is set to be Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, there's certainly a chance that it might be a game we have yet to learn about. In this case, EA has done a really good job of keeping the game mystery, just the way it did with Apex Legends.

Do you think that the title that EA describes as a "major IP" is Star Wars Jedi: Survivor? What other possibilities do you think there are?
