Annapurna Interactive released an official gameplay video of the new indie adventure game where you take on the role of a stray cat trying to find a way home.
The video was a part of Annapurna's first showcase. Stray is an atypical third-person adventure where instead of being a superhero or a regular human character who's (at least) got guns and rifles, you are a lonely stray cat lost in a big grey hostile city. You have to stroll your way through the cyperpunk-inspired concrete jungle trying to stay safe and avoid any danger that can be right around the corner.
You also have to observe the places around you and interact with the environment to solve puzzles. In a true feline manner, you can drop all sorts of junk onto various objects to break them, bend them, shut them off, etc. At some point in the adventure, the cat will meet B12, a tiny flying drone that will become your companion. It will unlock new ways of interacting with the environment and allow you to communicate with the inhabitants of the unfriendly city.
BlueTwelve Studio, a team of creators based in the south of France, is the developer of the game. Even though Annapurna had initially planned to release Stray in 2021, the cat adventure will be out in early 2022.
