Substance 3D Designer 14.1 Lets You Scatter Splines Off Splines

This release also adds tools for organizing graph layout, a copy/paste feature for node parameters, and a pixel pin in the 2D view to track specific pixels.

The latest update to Substance 3D Designer, the first since last summer, brings several new features designed to streamline your workflow. It includes tools for arranging graph layout, a copy/paste feature for transferring parameters between nodes, and a pixel pin in the 2D view to track specific pixels. Additionally, there's new content, mainly to complete the Spline and Path node sets.

Substance 3D Designer 14.1 introduces Scatter Splines on Splines node, which distributes splines along a parent spline, offering options similar to those of a regular scatter node. Additionally, Mask to Paths node has been improved to provide more control over the position of the first vertex on the path. The update also brings the ability to add randomness to Spline Bridge List node.

Keeping your graph clean and readable is crucial to boosting workflow speed and efficiency. With Substance 3D Designer 14.1's revamped node alignment tools, you can now evenly space nodes horizontally and vertically. This feature also prevents overlaps by neatly stacking the nodes.

You can now copy the parameters of one node and paste them onto another, so all matching parameters in the target node will be updated to the values of the source node. The new Color Sampler tool in the 2D view allows you to track the value of a selected pixel by pinning it, especially useful for ensuring you're always viewing the same pixel information across multiple nodes in your graph.
