Substance 3D Painter 9.0 Released

The release adds a new tool – Paint along path.

Adobe has released Substance 3D Painter 9.0, introducing Paint along path – a new tool that allows you to paint paths and curves in the 3D viewport. It works like a regular brush on paint layers and effects but is created by placing points or vertices, which allows you to modify any part of your path. The path tool is also compatible with the eraser and the smudge tool.

There are now six path tool presets to make the workflow even easier. They are entirely parametric with a range of options to customize the tool:

  • Pipe rack sci-fi
  • Puckering
  • Seam
  • Topstitching
  • Welding metal
  • Zipper tape

Moreover, Adobe changed 58 default base materials "to make them more useful to everybody." They are now of better visual quality and usability and contain a wide range of parameters. The old assets can be found on Substance 3D Community Assets – use 'painter23update' tag to find them.
