Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League Cutscenes Happen at Any Time of Day

Its lighting artist lit them for every possibility.

We don't always see cutscenes in video games reflecting the changes in the weather or time of the day, but this is what we'll get in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, according to Rocksteady's former character artist Del Walker.

Walker reposted some screenshots showcasing the lighting work of Ashley McKenzie, who has poured a lot of time and effort into the cinematic scenes. Walker said that McKenzie had lit them multiple times to make sure they looked good during sunny mornings, rainy nights, and any other situation.

"Anything can happen at any time of day in the #SuicideSquadGame," Walker said, and you can see some examples on X/Twitter:

"I remember asking [Ashley McKenzie] if he thought this was really necessary. He said something like "No. This is ridiculous. But the fans will probably appreciate it." Before I left they had this working perfectly and looking amazing, and the only reason I could see them altering it would be for specific story beat reasons. Either way, if anyone ever doubted buckets of passion has gone into making this game. You're wrong."

This is some dedication here, for sure. We'll be able to check it out for ourselves on February 2 when it comes to PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. Later this year, Rocksteady wants to add an offline story mode to the game.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was announced in 2020 and has seen several delays since then. The action-adventure game is set in the open world of Metropolis and features four famous characters: Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, Harley Quinn, and King Shark.
