Finnish mobile game development company Supercell has acquired the majority stake in the British company Trailmix, the developer of the Love & Pies mobile game. The move followed Supercell's $60 million investment in the firm.
According to Trailmix's press release, despite the majority stake, the company will continue to operate independently and its executive team will remain unchanged.
Trailmix was founded in 2017 by former top executives from King's London division. In February 2018, the studio attracted the first investment of $4.2 million from Supercell. So far, the studio has only one game in its portfolio – the puzzle game Love & Pies, which was released last September.
Trailmix said that, for the time being, its focus will remain on the title. The company is really proud of the game's performance saying that it exceeded its expectations. It revealed that Love & Pies' Day 120 retention is now above 10% which reflects players' interest in the game. The studio plans to continue to invest in live operations for its title.
