Surreal Animations from an Arctic Survival Game Made in Godot
Frost Kin is an upcoming survival adventure set in a cold wilderness.
Developer FancyWrong shared animations from an upcoming atmospheric action-adventure, Frost Kin, showcasing the surreal atmosphere and amazing art style of the game.
The stylized animations convey ethereal, sorrowful vibes, brought to life with Godot. The developer describes the game as an "Arctic survival tragedy," and the visuals perfectly capture the cold, mysterious atmosphere.
In the comments to the Reddit post, the developer explains the reasoning behind that stylized approach: hyper-realism isn't always the better choice, and a simpler, less detailed style can sometimes convey more than a highly detailed one.

Frost Kin is a narrative survival game set in a legendary, frozen wilderness. With nothing but a spear and their twin brother's lingering spirit by their side, a character must survive the cold and the ancient creatures that haunt it.

The character can transfer a single soul between creatures, each with distinct instincts and abilities, using them to hunt, travel, and survive across a dying wilderness with no map, quests, or guidance. A key mechanic is about choice: players can save their brother's fading essence or use it for power, but abusing his loyalty weakens their bond over time.

The release date is to be announced. Meanwhile, you can wishlist the game on Steam.
