How often do you play the games you buy? Are there any just lying around waiting for you to run the for the first time? Turns out, many people acquire games to let them rest in their digital libraries, according to a survey done by Ultra, a PC game distribution platform.
The firm asked 2,000 "PC enthusiasts" across the US and UK about their habits and found out that only 44% of digital PC games are played regularly and 24% have never been touched at all.
Unsurprisingly, 75% of respondents find AAA titles too expensive, and 75% of players buy indie games as 33% like their lower prices. According to the report, 87% consider discounts and sales important when thinking about buying games. As a result, only 36% of their games were bought at full price.
Moreover, 36% of respondents think it is difficult to find new games, so 38% go to YouTube to discover something novel, while 34% follow their friends' recommendations.
Ultra has also found out that 68% of players had engaged in in-game purchases, and 58% would resell their games if they could. Consequently, 64% of respondents would buy more AAA titles if they could then sell them.

"Our research has shown that whilst PC gaming is far from broken, there’s clear room for improvement. Ultra has long held the belief that a digital secondary game marketplace can not only tackle the backlogs in gamers’ libraries, but also help developers and publishers sell more games, and unlock new revenue streams and ways to engage their communities," said Nicolas Gilot, Co-CEO of Ultra.
