Take an insightful look at Double Fine's surreal atmospheric puzzle adventure Keeper. In a deep dive, Project Lead Lee Petty, Animation Lead Zach Baharov, Senior Environment Artist Will Koehler, and Designer Asif Siddiky explored the project's technical side.
The game is powered by Unreal Engine 5. The deep dive covers lighting techniques using UE5's Lumen system, character animation with control rigs, VR environment sculpting, and camera work insights.

Keeper's story centers around a forgotten lighthouse brought to life. Accompanied by a spirited seabird, the peculiar protagonist embarks on an unexpected and moving journey. The game tells a whimsical and poignant story without words, through visuals and other means of expression.
"A heartening tale of unlikely companionship, an odyssey of mystifying metamorphosis, and an unexpected journey towards the center of the island, into realms beyond understanding," the developers describe the project.
