Take a Look at This Cool Blender Add-on for Visualizing Wet Spots

An amazing free Blender add-on developed by Jesse "Blenderesse" Miettinen.

In one of his recent tweets, talented 3D Artist Jesse "Blenderesse" Miettinen showcased an example of using his Smudge Mask Generator, a Blender add-on made by the artist that functions by dividing faces based on edge angles and computing the Z-gradient for each face area independently.

As suggested by the title "Water Smudge Mask Generator" and the tutorial showcased on Gumroad, the add-on can be used for visualizing wet spots on buildings. It generates masks that later can be utilized right away or be the base for your own masking setups. To create a mask with the Smudge Mask Generator, simply add the setup and it will create an Attribute called Mask. "Fully procedural, easy to control, and flexible," reads the description on Gumroad.

Jesse Miettinen shared that he was inspired by a new tutorial on Blender texturing by Andrew Price, which we recently told you about. The creator further explained that he made his own version and combined it with the Geometry-based and Procedural masks generated by his own product.

Previously, we talked about other Blender-related projects showcased by Jesse Miettinen, for instance, an add-on for rain droplets simulation, a picturesque scene made using Blender tools, a Dune-inspired animation set up using Geometry nodes, an add-on for untiling 3D textures, and many more.
