Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is an upcoming Soulslike action RPG developed by Team Ninja, and players expect a certain level of difficulty from it. If you're hoping to "easy-mode" it, you're out of luck: the game's producer Masaaki Yamagiwa said it will only have one difficulty.
In an interview with MP1st, he revealed that the studio wants everyone to have the same experience of overcoming intense obstacles so that every player has the same feeling of achievement. The game offers different ways to beat bosses, so, potentially, it should fit players with different abilities.
"It’s really important to keep the challenge the same and [give] players different ways to overcome it. Wo Long is not an easy game by any means but we’re working to give players as much freedom and agency to play it as they want, overcome obstacles in their own way."
One way to achieve it is the morale system: by increasing your morale rank, you get stronger and can use that to choose which enemies to fight. As it grows, some enemies might become a little bit easier. Alternatively, you can just level up like in a traditional action RPG or team up on an enemy with your friends.
"We’re really giving players their own ways to be able to tackle all these things, that’s really important to Wo Long’s game design."
This goes well with the team's earlier statement saying that Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty will be fair and won't be difficult "just for the sake of it."
Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is scheduled for release in 2023 for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
