TexturingXYZ's SKAP Now Available

Works entirely from your input and generates 16K textures.

If you missed it, we've been tracking TexturingXYZ's progress on a new online platform designed to create ultra-detailed skin texture maps since last year, and after a period of beta testing, SKAP is now live.

SKAP is designed to enhance skin texture detail for sculpts, game characters, and scans, generating results from your input with 16K displacement output. While the primary outputs are displacement and cavity maps, optional maps are also available for use in game engines, including normal, multi-normal, hemoglobin, and melanin.

To use SKAP, you need a 3D head model with appropriate topology in OBJ format, along with the texture you want to enhance. It's also recommended to include an ID mask to exclude non-skin elements and improve the overall quality of the results.

There's comprehensive documentation available to help you navigate the entire SKAP workflow. It covers the full processing process, the expected inputs, common mistakes to avoid, and how to use SKAP within Mari as well as in Maya and Arnold pipelines.
