The devcom Art & Animation Summit: Deep Dive Into Substance 3D Stager

Vladimir Petkovic, a Creative Director at Adobe Substance 3D, participated in the devcom Art & Animation Summit last December where he shared a talk on producing realistic portfolio shots with Substance 3D Stager.

In this creative jam session, Vladimir Petkovic goes over some tips and tricks in Substance 3D Stager to make your portfolio stand out. Vladimir Petkovic is a Serbian-born CG artist, during his career he worked on motion pictures, game projects, product visualization, abstract digital graphics, and numerous Web and UI-related projects for companies around the world. Currently, Vladimir contributes to Adobe Substance 3D as a creative director.

Vladimir will take a deep dive into the Substance 3D ecosystem and will guide you through the core tools and their possibilities: Adobe Substance 3D Designer, Sampler, Painter, and Stager. Also, during this session, the speaker will talk about portfolios, the best techniques for compilation your artworks, and the ways to highlight your skills in the portfolio.

Using his recent artwork, a little robot, the speaker shows the workflow of creating high-quality shots in Adobe Substance 3D. During this talk, you will also hear about Stager in detail, receive some useful techniques, tips and tricks, and enjoy the step-by-step explained real-time working process. 

First, you'll borrow from traditional photography practice to learn how to frame the camera and operate different lights in a scene. Then, you'll explore how to create a simple studio environment where you can stage your 3D model. Finally, you’ll learn how 3D models can be seamlessly composed with a backplate photo, to produce a highly realistic result.
