The Developer of Destiny Goes "Digital-First"
From now on, the majority of roles at Bungie will be fully remote.
Bungie, the developer of Destiny and the original Halo trilogy, announced the beginning of a new "digital-first" policy in the company. According to the announcement, from now on, the majority of current and future job positions at Bungie will be fully remote.
As for right now, the policy only applies to the US states of California, Florida, Illinois, North Carolina, Oregon, Texas, and Washington, with more locations promised to be added to the list in the near future. The list of vacancies on the studio's official website has already been updated to reflect the new policy. You can check the list out and apply here.
Bungie's decision, however, cannot and should not be considered surprising, given the fact that the work-from-home and hybrid working models proved to be as effective, if not more so, as a traditional pre-pandemic format. What's more, our recent study showed that the vast majority of game developers and digital artists prefer a hybrid/work-from-home schedule, with only 11% of respondents giving their preference to the usual work-from-office model.
