The Division 2 Audio Specialists on the Game's Sound System
Bubblespace makes the experience more immersive.
If you think The Division 2 sounds very realistic, you have Bubblespace to thank for it. The game's Audio Architect Robert Bantin and Audio Director Simon Koudriavtsev shared some details about the sound system called Bubblespace.
"The idea with Bubblespace is to estimate the dimensions of a cylinder-shaped volume of free air around the player. It's a real time geometry-based ray-cast system that determines not only the radius around the player, but also space above them."
The system is used to ensure that your audio experience is varied based on the surroundings. It can detect where you are, in a wide-open space or a confined room, and adjust the sound accordingly. The weapon tails, the wind, the ambiance, and the echo are controlled by Bubblespace.
"Every single space you visit will sound unique because it is based on the local geometry."
