Skyrim is now the seventh best-selling game in the world.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has surpassed 60 million copies sold, game director Todd Howard revealed in a recent interview.
Speaking to IGN, Howard shared that Skyrim's sales have exceeded 60 million units sold – this achievement was reached nearly 12 years after its initial release on November 11, 2011. This new milestone means that the fantasy RPG secured its place among the top ten best-selling titles in history, specifically ranking seventh.
Undoubtedly, Skyrim's remarkable success can be attributed to its multiple re-releases across various platforms, which greatly contributed to its widespread popularity.
Bethesda is currently developing The Elder Scrolls VI, which is now in the pre-production stage. Despite its initial announcement in 2018, scarce details have emerged about the title, leaving fans eagerly anticipating further updates.
The studio is also actively working on Starfield, its first new universe in 25 years. Most recently, Bethesda unveiled an official gameplay trailer for the highly-anticipated sci-fi RPG offering an extended glimpse at the game, showcasing its visual style, other-worldly landscapes, and a range of gameplay mechanics, among other things.
