You have plenty of time to get emotionally ready for the second season.
It's been a long time since we've heard anything from HBO's one of the most successful TV series –The Last of Us. In September, we reported that the show creators confirmed that season 2 was outlined and the team was ready to go once the strikes were over. Since the actors' strike came to an end in early November, it seems that the time for the second season of The Last of Us has finally arrived.
On December 7, Max released its The One to Watch trailer, which gave us a sneak peek at upcoming shows, including the official announcement of The Last of Us season 2's release in 2025.
Filming is set to begin in early 2024, on February 12, 2024, as Craig Mazin confirmed to Variety, with Pedro Pascal getting back to the role of Joel and Bella Ramsey returning as Ellie. The new season will follow the storyline of The Last of Us 2 game, introducing a new character who will play a crucial role in Ellie's post-apocalyptic life.

There are rumors that Kaitlyn Dever, previously linked to playing Ellie, is now the frontrunner for the role of Abby. Interestingly, Dever was also a popular choice among fans for the character of Ellie before the show's release. Well, only time will tell if these rumors are true.
Also, earlier we reported that Neil Druckmann, the Co-creator of The Last of Us' games and TV series, spilled some guts on the upcoming TV series saying that it'd feature some cut scenes from The Last of Us 2' Lost Levels.
