The Cyberwave team showcased a neat development tool they made for Solarpunk in Unreal Engine 5.
Indie game development team Cyberwave continues working on Solarpunk, a co-op survival game with cheerful, stylized graphics and cozy vibes, offering a look at a new piece of tech they've created for the game.
As showcased in the studio's latest demo, the new tool allows developers to automatically adapt large sections of land to the terrain. By dragging entire landholdings across the map, everything – including buildings and objects – adjusts seamlessly to terrain features like hills in real-time. Powered by Unreal Engine 5, the tech looks as satisfying as the game itself, making it all the more unfortunate that, at the moment, it's unclear whether the feature will be present in the game or if it's just a development tool.
For those unfamiliar, Solarpunk is an upcoming survival crafting game set in a technologically advanced world of floating islands. In it, you can construct buildings, grow food, craft gadgets, and explore distant islands in your own airship, alone or in the company of friends. The game also has a high-tech element to it, allowing you to harness sunlight, wind, and water to create an energy system and automate tasks like gathering resources and watering your plants.
Features:
- Multiplayer: Play alone or in co-op mode with your friends.
- Building: Gather resources and build your own home in the sky.
- Farming: Grow plants to secure your food supplies.
- Crafting: Craft technical gadgets and automate your processes.
- Energy: Use sunlight, wind, and water and create an energy system for your gadgets.
- Airship: Build your own airship and explore distant islands in the sky.
The game is set to arrive sometime next year.
