The Thing: Remastered Release Window Unveiled in a New Gameplay Trailer
The remastered version of the 2002 survival shooter will be equipped with “some of Nightdive’s most impressive visual upgrades to date.”
Nightdive Studios, known for bringing lost and forgotten gaming gems back to life, has shared a gameplay trailer for The Thing: Remastered and unveiled the release window.
The remaster was announced back in June, a year after the studio launched the remake of System Shock. The original game is a 2002 squad-based third-person survival horror shooter, a sequel to John Carpenter's 1982 film of the same name.
Equipped with “some of Nightdive’s most impressive visual upgrades to date,” the remastered version will boast “improved models, textures, and environments, new dynamic lighting, and 4K resolution at 144 FPS.” The team has been working with the original developers on some gameplay improvements.
In the twenty levels, you and your team will encounter terrifying monsters, “from the scuttling head-spiders and human-like walkers to gigantic multi-tentacled beasts.” The importance of teamwork is needless to say. However, the team members will probably not always be cooperative because your influence on their psychological state, as reflected on the fear/trust interface, would matter.
The Thing: Remastered is coming later this year and will be available on PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, and PC via Steam and GoG, as well as Humble. Wishlist the game to be notified when it’s released.
