The Unity Engine Roadmap Revealed

If you're curious about what's coming next or just want a rundown of the team's recent work, the full Unity Engine Roadmap session from Unite 2025 is now available online. It expands on the recent GDC keynote and dives into editor enhancements, performance boosts, broader platform support, and several new tools on the horizon.

Some of the standout updates include investment in uGUI and the advantages that come with CoreCLR. Unity also noted that a few ambitious initiatives, like the new animation and world-building workflows, are currently on pause.

Unity's been pretty active lately. In case you missed it, the company announced several engine enhancements, including Android XR support in Unity 6 to expand immersive experiences, as well as a new cross-platform commerce platform. And in the latest news, Epic Games is partnering with Unity to bring Unity-made games into Fortnite and give Unreal developers access to Unity's platform.
