This Animation Looks 3D, But It's Not
CaseyNFizzy is back.
There's a certain crowd of artists who love to dunk on Procreate for being too simple or unintuitive, and they're not entirely wrong when it comes to animation. However, CaseyNFizzy keeps proving that the tools matter a lot less than the person using them, making insane 2D animation that somehow manages to blur the line with 3D.
But no, this is actually 2D, and you can see it clearly in the timelapse, showing the entire process of figuring out the character, working out the angles, setting the timing charts, and so on. Even masters don't animate entirely from memory, though, they still rely on references to capture movement accurately:
