This Beautiful Painterly Landscape Is Actually 3D

Kuwahara filter magic.

The paint effect in this watercolor-like 3D render, reminiscent of Caspar David Friedrich's work, is created using displaced pixels in the real-time compositor. As Paul Guilhem Repaux, also known as arpeegee, explained, he applied some noises and adjusted Kuwahara accordingly.
