This Blender Addon Lets You Easily Add a VHS Effect to Your Renders
You can create a visual style inspired by VHS tapes, security cams, and 90s camcorders.
If you are a fan of old-school visual style and would like to create a project inspired by a nostalgic 90s aesthetic, check out VHS Generator from RUIDO VFX. It's a Blender add-on that easily adds authentic retro analog effects to your renders and allows you to adjust its parameters.
The add-on features a node system for Blender's Compositor, which ensures instant transformation of renders into vintage-style footage.
You can create various art styles with three camera modes: Classic VHS, Security Camera, and 90s Camcorder. Each features 5 cinematic presets and adjustable parameters, letting you achieve anything from a clean look to an extreme grungy VHS effect.
The Classic VHS mode creates the analog warm effect of a home magnetic tape and features organic color bleeding, heavy tracking artifacts, and soft luma/chroma noise. Security Camera, on the other hand, has a high-contrast look inspired by old CCTV systems, primarily black-and-white with visible scanline interference and digital grain. The Camcorder 90s mode replicates the early digital and handheld era and features interlacing artifacts, lens distortion, and vibrant, slightly oversaturated colors.
You can also add diverse analog artifacts, such as Scanlines, Interlacing, and Lens Curvature, for authentic CRT distortion, alongside adjusting pixelation, RGB color shifting, blur, and color balance.
The Dynamic Noise System allows for animated Static Grain and Digital Noise with scale and speed control, giving your Blender renders a truly convincing retro feel.
