This Cozy Parenting Game Looks Like Thank Goodness You're Here! & Plays Like A Little to the Left
Escape the Baby Alarm is a hand-drawn escape room game that takes you inside a baby monitor to navigate the chaos, exhaustion, and joys of a new experience.
Step inside a baby monitor in this cozy, psychedelic parenting game. Escape the Baby Alarm, developed by Julie Normann Bjørnskov, blends the hand-drawn platformer style of Thank Goodness You're Here! with the puzzle gameplay of A Little to the Left.
As the developer puts it, the game is a love letter to parenthood, built on personal experience. The escape room-inspired game explores the chaos and love of stepping into the role of a parent.
"An era defined by love and connection, but also extreme sleep deprivation, questionable hygiene standards, and the superpower of functioning on 2% battery with a baby in one hand and a cold coffee in the other."

The game has an adorable look that, according to the developer, reflects the dreamlike state of a sleep-deprived parent, with bright pops of color and surreal imagery. Every scene is hand-drawn, and the characters and motifs show both the daily struggles and the small, absurd joys of parenthood.

The puzzles test the player's sense of practicality and emotional bandwidth. In the game, players need to avoid getting sunscreen on a toothbrush while looking for toothpaste, search for shoes in the fridge, and smash a box of chocolates "accidentally on purpose" out of exhaustion and frustration. Another challenge is the endless stream of advice given to new parents. Players use logic to sort it out, take only the tips that work for them, and try not to get overwhelmed.
