As hard as it may be to believe, but what you see above is not an official promotional video for The Mandalorian season 4 or a teaser trailer for The Mandalorian & Grogu, but rather an impeccable fan-made 3D animation brought to life by a professional FX Artist and Generalist, Dayton Busse.
Boasting a level of quality on par with the original movies produced by Disney, Dayton's sequence portrays everyone's favorite bounty hunter Boba Fett piloting his iconic Slave I craft, dodging laser beams, and blasting a Star Destroyer in two in a spectacular fashion that makes you scream, "ILM, hire this guy!"
Speaking of ILM, to create the animation, the artist utilized Industrial Light & Magic's Boba Fett model, as well as interior cockpit shots from The Mandalorian and Star Wars: Episode II. Everything else in the scene, including the spaceships and visual effects, was made by hand using Houdini, rendered with Karma, and compiled in Nuke. According to Dayton, the sequence was both a hobby project and a portfolio piece made to showcase his skills as a VFX Artist.
