This WIP VR Game Explores Authentic Asian Culture & Time Travel
Hoi An Chronicles VR is an immersive adventure created with Unreal Engine 5.
Have a look at Hoi An Chronicles VR, a first-person immersive experience currently in development by Click Studio at Duy Tan University. Powered by Unreal Engine 5, the game features a story that involves traveling back in time and returning an ancient relic to its historical time and place. The experience is designed to be completed in 20-30 minutes.
According to Hoi An Chronicles' story, people have learned how to travel through time, which became helpful in studying and recording history. However, some have tried to use the fantastic technology for their own purposes. Thus, an over 500-year old jade bracelet was discovered at an auction, but it should not exist at the current location and time. According to history, this treasure should have accompanied Princess Ngoc Hoa to Japan and remained lost in a foreign land forever.

Players take on the role of a time scientist from the Nexus Hub research institute with a mission to return the relic to its fair place and time. Apart from this, the experience offers to explore legendary stories of the old town during the golden age of trade in Southeast Asia, immersing players in traditional Vienamese culture. Walking down its streets, players will have a chance to talk to locals and witness authentically recreated residential locations, leading up to Princess Ngoc Hoa's wedding.

Alongside the main quest, Hoi An Chronicles VR features mini-games – three festival games, also serving to completing the main mission. After that, players will watch a wedding ceremony, recreated following the wedding customs of the ancient Thuan Hoa land.
