TimeSplitters Developers Are Working on Roguelike Version of Scrabble

If you love playing with words, this game is what you want to have in your Steam wishlist. Beyond Words is Scrabble with a roguelike twist – and it promises to be good, as it comes from David Doak and Steve Ellis, the co-founders of Free Radical Design, the studio behind TimeSplitters.

They call their new brainchild "the genre-defining fusion of roguelike strategy and word-crafting." Now under MindFuel Games, the developers promise a "journey through a living puzzle shaped by your decisions."

Beyond Words is Scrabble boosted by epic combos and tough boss challenges, quite a jump from TimeSplitters and GoldenEye 007, Doak and Ellis's famous shooters. It seems like it's time for them to turn a new leaf after Free Radical Design was shut down back in 2023 as part of Embracer Group's restructuring. 

Beyond Words will be released this year, and for now, you can check out its demo on Steam.
