Unity ArtEngine $19/mo promotion brings AI material generation to the masses.

“Games have become a place to immerse ourselves in worlds and a way to be a part of a community when we’re sheltering at home.”
– Nathaniel Bell, Insomniac Games, GDC Showcase Unity keynote
Day two of GDC Showcase is off with a bang! Exciting to see Insomniac Games make an appearance on the Unity keynote stage, discussing their scan-based workflow with ArtEngine, and their use of Upres 2.0, labeling it “the best scan clean-up tool on the market”. All of the videos are on the GDC platform for viewing.
Unity’s perspective today was simple: Games have always brought us together, but with the social isolation that COVID has brought, games are more critical than ever -- and so are the tools that enable their creation.
GDC Showcase is free for everyone to attend. In the spirit of expanding access, Unity is offering Unity ArtEngine for $19/mo (vs. the regular price of $95/mo).
Inspired by the autumn colors, Pete Mc Nally used 48 photographs to create this leafy material and leveraged ArtEngine.
Unity ArtEngine is a tool that uses AI to remove time-consuming and repetitive material creation tasks so teams can focus on the creative parts of their work. The program is popular for scan-cleanup on photogrammetry scans, generating and manipulating PBR materials, remastering old assets, and more. To date, the ArtEngine team’s focus was on AAA workflows and helping solve their current customers' pain; however, this promotion is being labeled as the first step to opening it up to everyone.
