Twitch Now Allows More Nudity with Its Updated Sexual Content Policy

"Artistic depictions of nudity" are allowed, but you should label it, according to the new policy.

After constant feedback from streamers, Twitch decided to reconsider its streamlined sexual content policy, allowing the content that was previously prohibited. Well, there are some new rules to follow. The most important one is that you need to use appropriate classification labels.

Drugs, Intoxication, or Excessive Tobacco Use; Violent and Graphic Depictions; Gambling; and/or Sexual Themes will no longer be featured in viewer recommendations on the home page of Twitch because "We want to make sure the homepage, which is often the first page that viewers land on, is more aligned with viewer expectations," says the platform. However, they will still be visible in the recommendations block on the left side of the page, where stream thumbnails are not displayed.

Certain previously prohibited content on Twitch is now allowed if appropriately labeled.

The changes include:

  1. Streamers can "deliberately" highlight breasts, buttocks, or the pelvic region, even when fully clothed, addressing the subjective nature of evaluating streams and ensuring that female-presenting streamers are not disproportionately penalized.
  2. Fictional depictions of fully exposed female-presenting breasts and/or genitals or buttocks, regardless of gender, are now permitted to support the artist community on Twitch.
  3. Body writing on female-presenting breasts and/or buttocks, regardless of gender, is permitted to align with the existing Twitch Attire Policy.
  4. Erotic dances involving disrobing or suggestive gestures, such as strip teases, are now allowed.

Popular dances like twerking, grinding, and pole dancing are allowed without the need for labeling, based on context, except when streaming within an adult entertainment establishment.

Twitch emphasized one more time that the platform continues to prohibit the streaming of games that focus on nudity, pornography, or sexual content, as well as custom mods that remove censorship. Games with occasional nudity, like Baldur's Gate 3 or The Witcher 3, only need an appropriate label.
