Twitter Leaves Mac App Store

Using an iOS version might get you banned.

X/Twitter has disappeared from the Mac App Store, so new users can't download it there anymore, while already installed applications seem to be working for the time being.

The Mac version of the program had been pretty much neglected and didn't have modern features, like community notes and ads (via NewsBytes.) It looks like Elon Musk has finally found the time for it in this unfortunate way.

Some people successfully use the iPad version on Apple silicon-powered laptops, but as TechCrunch noted, this might have its own pitfalls and even get your account banned, although the developers are now working on fixing it. Still, the best idea is to simply use the web version for now.

Here's to one more app leaving X/Twitter users. Over a year ago, X updated the developer's agreement (via AppleInsider) prohibiting them from making their own X/Twitter clients, which forced multiple useful applications to leave stores.

This change marks another step in Elon Musk's "evolution" of X/Twitter, as controversial as many before that. Hopefully, we will see an upgraded version of the network back on App Store soon.
