Ubisoft reportedly holds the belief that the game might be released by March 2024. However, sources indicate that there is a possibility of it being delayed and pushed into 2025.
Ubisoft's new open-world Star Wars game created by Massive Entertainment, the studio responsible for The Division, might reportedly be released as soon as 2024.
As reported by Kotaku, which cited unnamed sources, the game, supposedly codenamed Project Helix, is the undisclosed "large game" that Ubisoft mentioned during its latest earnings call and that it is expected to feature "some form of interplanetary space travel".
It is claimed that the title is now slated for launch during the current fiscal year which ends in March 2024, although the outlet's sources state that the game's development has been facing challenges which is why they suggest that the company's current fiscal year target is overly ambitious and the release date is likely to be pushed towards the following fiscal year.
Still, according to sources, there is internal optimism within Ubisoft that Project Helix has the potential to become the company's first major success outside the Assassin's Creed franchise in quite a while.
Unveiled in early 2021, Project Helix is currently under development with Massive as the primary studio. During an announcement, the game's creative director Julian Gerighty noted that the game would mark a significant departure from the projects the studio is known for, such as the military loot shooters The Division 1 and 2.
If the rumor about the game's release is to be believed, it is possible that Ubisoft might showcase the game during its upcoming Ubisoft Forward event which will take place on June 12.
