Chaos will stop supporting V-Ray for Modo and Katana at the end of 2022 to keep up with other products' development.
Chaos discontinues V-Ray for Modo and Katana this year. The company stated that while the sales and maintenance were ended on December 20, 2021, the software will be supported until December 31, 2022.
Modo is a 3D modeling, animation, texturing, and rendering toolset, whereas Katana is described as a "look development and lighting powerhouse." Both programs are meant to empower artists with tools to enable creative freedom.
As for now, Chaos provides V-Ray for a multitude of other programs such as 3ds Max, Maya, Blender, and many others. Right now, the company is developing V-Ray for Nuke with its version 5.2 already available.
The software was used on several popular movies, including Atomic Fiction's work on Deadpool and The Walk. Chaos says the change needed to be made to keep up with the new products' development and that "some products eventually reach their natural end of life."
Speaking of new products, the company has released Chaos Player – a professional image sequence player. Check out the company's site to see what else it is working on.
