The switch will bring enhanced framerate performance and more improvements.
Riot Games has announced in a recent developer update that Valorant will be transitioning to Unreal Engine 5.
The update is planned to launch with patch 11.02 at the end of July. Valorant was powered by Unreal Engine 4 since its release in 2020, and overall, Riot Games used UE4 to develop the title for over 10 years. Currently, the team works to make sure that the upgrade doesn't disrupt the gameplay and that the game's overall look and feel stays similar. The switch will introduce improved framerate performance and faster patch downloads in the future.

In the same dev update, Riot Games teased a new map for the tactical shooter, which will be revealed later this month. According to the developers, it will feature layered and complex sites and be "something that aims to shake up how you think about taking and holding sites in Valorant." Also, Riot announced the highly anticipated replay system, which will come with patch 11.06 in September.
As for the switch to UE5, we have seen many other studios shift to the engine, such as Halo Studios, formerly known as 343 Industries, and CD Projekt Red, which contributed to the development of Unreal Engine.
